Parent Involvement
Each 2-5 year old child is visited at home by his or her teacher before
school opens in August. Fall and Spring conferences keep parents informed
of their child's progress and, of course, parents may request a conference
with a teacher at any time.
Parents are invited to participate in their child's class by bringing a
special birthday treat, helping with field trips, joining in a special
cooking project, or other ways. One wonderful way to be involved in your
child's Weekday School experience is to work as an assistant in the
classroom on a regular basis. Parent assistants help us maintain our high
standards of individualized attention and allows parents to earn credit
toward tuition for their hours spent in the classroom.
Several special events during the school year involve parents and families.
These include a Fall Open House, Father's Day events, Christmas Dinner,
annual BBQ, and more.
A parent orientation meeting is held in September of each year. We request
the presence of at least one family member at this important meeting.
The Weekday School Board is made up of parents and First UMC members. This
group functions as both a board of directors and a PTA. Interested parents
should contact the director for more information about service on the Board. |
